The advertised promise of big data is the ability to gain new insights for existing and new forms of data. All financial firms generate significant amounts of data every day. With a consumer business centric view of big data, the problem lies in understanding how to extract additional insight from existing structured data.
Also, the much-promised disruptive effect of big data technology is emerging from the early adopters in capital markets. The challenge will be to anticipate and prepare for this ‘renaissance’ to align with an overall strategy and evolve and share the capabilities within the enterprise.
